Notice of Privacy Practices

Effective Date: July 17, 2026

This Notice describes how Owed & Honored Foundation (“we,” “us,” “the Foundation”) collects, uses, protects, and shares information — including sensitive health-related information — that you share with us. Please read it carefully.

Who We Are

Owed & Honored Foundation is a Colorado nonprofit that educates veterans and their families about earned benefits and connects them with accredited Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) and VA-accredited representatives. We do not prepare, present, or prosecute VA benefit claims, and we are not a healthcare provider.

What We Collect

With your consent, we may collect information you choose to share, which can include:

  • Contact and identifying information
  • Service history
  • Medical or VA records you provide for referral/intake purposes

We only collect what is needed for the purpose you agree to.

How We Use Your Information

  • To determine which programs or referrals may help you
  • To refer you to a named, accredited VSO or VA-accredited representative, with your separate written authorization
  • To maintain your Foundation file
  • With your specific consent, to use AI-assisted tools to help organize or review information you've provided

We do not sell your information. We do not use your health information for fundraising solicitation without your separate opt-in.

How We Protect Your Information

  • Access to your records is limited to Foundation staff/volunteers who have signed our Confidentiality Agreement
  • Records are stored using access controls and, where applicable, encryption
  • We retain records only as long as necessary for the purpose collected, then securely destroy them
  • We vet any AI or technology vendor before permitting them to process your information

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Decline to provide information without losing access to services that don't require it
  • Ask what information we hold about you and request a copy
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Revoke any authorization you've given us, at any time, in writing
  • Ask questions about this Notice at any time

Third Parties

We only share your information with third parties you have specifically authorized in writing (e.g., a named VSO). Once shared, that party's own privacy practices govern further use of your information.
